·
Lens Aberations are an optical error
·
No les is perfect
·
Some aberations are wanted
·
Light is refracted as it passess through glass
·
Sperical surfaces fail to bring light to a focus
·
Stopping down can reduce this
·
In a cmera there are lots of parts to a lens
·
Each time light passess through the lens
something different happens
·
Different colours may focus at different
locations or plains and not together
·
Additional Structures are added to glass to try
and fix this.
·
Side note
– Tinyprints
·
White highlights can get coloured fringing
·
This is not reduced by stopping down
·
Can be fixed digitally
·
Coma is an off axis spherical aberration
·
Astigmatism
·
Distortion – Barrel or Pin
·
Image sharpness is not effected by these
·
Stopping down can’t reduce this
·
Geometric distortion
·
Edges are stretched by this
·
Curvature of a field – focused image is formed
in a bowl shape – flat field lens
·
Can you determine standard corrections for your
lens?
